Dental Implants

The dental implant body is surgically inserted in the jawbone in place of the tooth's root.

Dental Implants

A dental implant system includes an implant body, an abutment, and sometimes an abutment screw.

At Parkhill Dental, our dental implant system includes three main parts: the implant body, the abutment, and sometimes an abutment screw.

The implant body is placed into the jawbone to replace the root of a missing tooth. The abutment is then attached to the implant and extends through the gums to hold the artificial tooth in place.

What to Expect

The implant post is placed by drilling into the bone, typically under local anesthesia.

Dental implant surgery is typically an outpatient procedure performed in stages, with recovery periods in between. The process includes:

  • Extraction of damaged tooth
  • Jawbone preparation (grafting), if necessary
  • Insertion of dental implant
  • Bone integration and healing
  • Attachment of abutment
  • Placement of prosthetic tooth

The procedure can take several months for healing and bone regeneration, with some stages possibly combined depending on the procedure and materials used.

Ideal for Permanent Restoration and Various Bone Conditions

We offer three types of dental implants: conventional, immediate, and immediate loaded. Conventional implants are a two-stage procedure, ideal for most bone conditions.

Immediate implants are placed the same day as extraction, for patients with healthy jawbones, with or without restorations. Immediate loaded implants allow placement of restorations alongside the implant, ideal for patients with good jawbone health.
